5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Since the early 1800s, Texas has been known for |

6 | 6 | | producing high quality beers; the small breweries of the 19th |

7 | 7 | | century handcrafted their products with basic equipment, but their |
---|
8 | 8 | | attention to detail laid a foundation of brewing excellence that |
---|
9 | 9 | | has persisted to the present; and |

10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Today, the practice of creating exceptional beers in |
---|
11 | 11 | | small quantities lives on through the work of a number of Texas |
---|
12 | 12 | | companies, one of which is Rahr & Sons Brewing of Fort Worth; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, From the time that it was established in 2004, Rahr & |
---|
14 | 14 | | Sons has dedicated itself to brewing award-winning beers and ales |
---|
15 | 15 | | based on traditional German and English recipes; its products are |
---|
16 | 16 | | sold primarily in North Texas, a local focus similar to that |
---|
17 | 17 | | employed by the beer producers of yesteryear; moreover, the company |
---|
18 | 18 | | calls on a personal sense of history in its work; Frederick William |
---|
19 | 19 | | "Fritz" Rahr, Jr., one of the partners in the company, is following |
---|
20 | 20 | | in the footsteps of his great-great-grandfather, Wilhelm Rahr, who |
---|
21 | 21 | | founded the Eagle Rahr Brewery and Malt House in Wisconsin in 1847; |
---|
22 | 22 | | and |

23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The Fort Worth company has been repeatedly |
---|
24 | 24 | | recognized for the quality of its brews, and its awards include a |
---|
25 | 25 | | bronze medal at the 2008 World Beer Cup and best in class honors for |
---|
26 | 26 | | four consecutive years at the United States Beer Tasting |
---|
27 | 27 | | Championships; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Though it draws inspiration from the past, the |
---|
29 | 29 | | company also looks to the future with its ongoing commitment to |
---|
30 | 30 | | sustainable energy practices; all of the brewery's electricity |
---|
31 | 31 | | comes from renewable resources, and the company is working hard to |
---|
32 | 32 | | reduce its carbon footprint; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, In the course of creating its highly respected |
---|
34 | 34 | | products, Rahr & Sons Brewing is helping to maintain time-honored |
---|
35 | 35 | | business and cultural practices while contributing to the economy |
---|
36 | 36 | | of Fort Worth; now, therefore, be it |
---|
37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

38 | 38 | | Legislature hereby commend Rahr & Sons Brewing for furthering the |

39 | 39 | | fine brewing tradition of the Lone Star State and extend to its |
