H.R. No. 703 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Since the early 1800s, Texas has been known for producing high quality beers; the small breweries of the 19th century handcrafted their products with basic equipment, but their attention to detail laid a foundation of brewing excellence that has persisted to the present; and WHEREAS, Today, the practice of creating exceptional beers in small quantities lives on through the work of a number of Texas companies, one of which is Rahr & Sons Brewing of Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, From the time that it was established in 2004, Rahr & Sons has dedicated itself to brewing award-winning beers and ales based on traditional German and English recipes; its products are sold primarily in North Texas, a local focus similar to that employed by the beer producers of yesteryear; moreover, the company calls on a personal sense of history in its work; Frederick William "Fritz" Rahr, Jr., one of the partners in the company, is following in the footsteps of his great-great-grandfather, Wilhelm Rahr, who founded the Eagle Rahr Brewery and Malt House in Wisconsin in 1847; and WHEREAS, The Fort Worth company has been repeatedly recognized for the quality of its brews, and its awards include a bronze medal at the 2008 World Beer Cup and best in class honors for four consecutive years at the United States Beer Tasting Championships; and WHEREAS, Though it draws inspiration from the past, the company also looks to the future with its ongoing commitment to sustainable energy practices; all of the brewery's electricity comes from renewable resources, and the company is working hard to reduce its carbon footprint; and WHEREAS, In the course of creating its highly respected products, Rahr & Sons Brewing is helping to maintain time-honored business and cultural practices while contributing to the economy of Fort Worth; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby commend Rahr & Sons Brewing for furthering the fine brewing tradition of the Lone Star State and extend to its owners and staff best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
