                            H.R. No. 703

 R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Since the early 1800s, Texas has been known for
producing high quality beers; the small breweries of the 19th
century handcrafted their products with basic equipment, but their
attention to detail laid a foundation of brewing excellence that
has persisted to the present; and
WHEREAS, Today, the practice of creating exceptional beers in
small quantities lives on through the work of a number of Texas
companies, one of which is Rahr & Sons Brewing of Fort Worth; and
WHEREAS, From the time that it was established in 2004, Rahr &
Sons has dedicated itself to brewing award-winning beers and ales
based on traditional German and English recipes; its products are
sold primarily in North Texas, a local focus similar to that
employed by the beer producers of yesteryear; moreover, the company
calls on a personal sense of history in its work; Frederick William
"Fritz" Rahr, Jr., one of the partners in the company, is following
in the footsteps of his great-great-grandfather, Wilhelm Rahr, who
 founded the Eagle Rahr Brewery and Malt House in Wisconsin in 1847;
 and
WHEREAS, The Fort Worth company has been repeatedly
recognized for the quality of its brews, and its awards include a
bronze medal at the 2008 World Beer Cup and best in class honors for
four consecutive years at the United States Beer Tasting
 Championships; and
WHEREAS, Though it draws inspiration from the past, the
company also looks to the future with its ongoing commitment to
sustainable energy practices; all of the brewery's electricity
comes from renewable resources, and the company is working hard to
 reduce its carbon footprint; and
WHEREAS, In the course of creating its highly respected
products, Rahr & Sons Brewing is helping to maintain time-honored
business and cultural practices while contributing to the economy
of Fort Worth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby commend Rahr & Sons Brewing for furthering the
fine brewing tradition of the Lone Star State and extend to its
owners and staff best wishes for continued success; and, be it
 further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
