5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, National LULAC president Rosa Rosales of San Antonio |
---|
6 | 6 | | has been an advocate for Hispanic Americans and, indeed, all |
---|
7 | 7 | | workers throughout much of the past three decades; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Building on her many years of experience working |
---|
9 | 9 | | with labor unions, including the National Association of Government |
---|
10 | 10 | | Employees and the Service Employees International Union, Mrs. |
---|
11 | 11 | | Rosales directs the National Association of Public Employees, which |
---|
12 | 12 | | she founded in 1999; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Her involvement with LULAC dates back to 1978, and |
---|
14 | 14 | | since that time, she has served in such key roles as LULAC Texas |
---|
15 | 15 | | state director and national vice president for the Southwest; she |
---|
16 | 16 | | was first elected as LULAC national president on July 1, 2006, and |
---|
17 | 17 | | the organization's members have twice returned her to office; in |
---|
18 | 18 | | addition to fulfilling the duties of president, she serves as a |
---|
19 | 19 | | board member of the LULAC National Educational Service Centers and |
---|
20 | 20 | | remains active in numerous community organizations; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Recognized often for her accomplishments, Mrs. |
---|
22 | 22 | | Rosales is the recipient of the American GI Forum Leadership Award |
---|
23 | 23 | | and the Cesar Chavez March for Justice Award among others; she is a |
---|
24 | 24 | | graduate of the University of Michigan, where she earned a |
---|
25 | 25 | | bachelor's degree in liberal arts; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Rosales has been supported in her endeavors by |
---|
27 | 27 | | her husband of 39 years, Rodolfo Rosales, and the couple take great |
---|
28 | 28 | | pride in their three sons, Rodolfo Rosales, Jr., Miguel Angel, and |
---|
29 | 29 | | Gabriel Yoatequia, as well as a granddaughter, Bianca Rosales; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to making a positive difference in the |
---|
31 | 31 | | world, Rosa Rosales has distinguished herself as a talented and |
---|
32 | 32 | | able leader whose far-reaching efforts have touched countless |
---|
33 | 33 | | lives; now, therefore, be it |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby honor Rosa Rosales for her outstanding work in |
---|
36 | 36 | | behalf of labor and civil rights and extend to her sincere best |
---|
37 | 37 | | wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
---|
38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
