44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, National LULAC president Rosa Rosales of San Antonio
66 has been an advocate for Hispanic Americans and, indeed, all
77 workers throughout much of the past three decades; and
88 WHEREAS, Building on her many years of experience working
99 with labor unions, including the National Association of Government
1010 Employees and the Service Employees International Union, Mrs.
1111 Rosales directs the National Association of Public Employees, which
1212 she founded in 1999; and
1313 WHEREAS, Her involvement with LULAC dates back to 1978, and
1414 since that time, she has served in such key roles as LULAC Texas
1515 state director and national vice president for the Southwest; she
1616 was first elected as LULAC national president on July 1, 2006, and
1717 the organization's members have twice returned her to office; in
1818 addition to fulfilling the duties of president, she serves as a
1919 board member of the LULAC National Educational Service Centers and
2020 remains active in numerous community organizations; and
2121 WHEREAS, Recognized often for her accomplishments, Mrs.
2222 Rosales is the recipient of the American GI Forum Leadership Award
2323 and the Cesar Chavez March for Justice Award among others; she is a
2424 graduate of the University of Michigan, where she earned a
2525 bachelor's degree in liberal arts; and
2626 WHEREAS, Mrs. Rosales has been supported in her endeavors by
2727 her husband of 39 years, Rodolfo Rosales, and the couple take great
2828 pride in their three sons, Rodolfo Rosales, Jr., Miguel Angel, and
2929 Gabriel Yoatequia, as well as a granddaughter, Bianca Rosales; and
3030 WHEREAS, Dedicated to making a positive difference in the
3131 world, Rosa Rosales has distinguished herself as a talented and
3232 able leader whose far-reaching efforts have touched countless
3333 lives; now, therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3535 Legislature hereby honor Rosa Rosales for her outstanding work in
3636 behalf of labor and civil rights and extend to her sincere best
3737 wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3838 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3939 prepared for Mrs. Rosales as an expression of high regard by the
4040 Texas House of Representatives.
