 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, National LULAC president Rosa Rosales of San Antonio
 has been an advocate for Hispanic Americans and, indeed, all
 workers throughout much of the past three decades; and
 WHEREAS, Building on her many years of experience working
 with labor unions, including the National Association of Government
 Employees and the Service Employees International Union, Mrs.
 Rosales directs the National Association of Public Employees, which
 she founded in 1999; and
 WHEREAS, Her involvement with LULAC dates back to 1978, and
 since that time, she has served in such key roles as LULAC Texas
 state director and national vice president for the Southwest; she
 was first elected as LULAC national president on July 1, 2006, and
 the organization's members have twice returned her to office; in
 addition to fulfilling the duties of president, she serves as a
 board member of the LULAC National Educational Service Centers and
 remains active in numerous community organizations; and
 WHEREAS, Recognized often for her accomplishments, Mrs.
 Rosales is the recipient of the American GI Forum Leadership Award
 and the Cesar Chavez March for Justice Award among others; she is a
 graduate of the University of Michigan, where she earned a
 bachelor's degree in liberal arts; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Rosales has been supported in her endeavors by
 her husband of 39 years, Rodolfo Rosales, and the couple take great
 pride in their three sons, Rodolfo Rosales, Jr., Miguel Angel, and
 Gabriel Yoatequia, as well as a granddaughter, Bianca Rosales; and
 WHEREAS, Dedicated to making a positive difference in the
 world, Rosa Rosales has distinguished herself as a talented and
 able leader whose far-reaching efforts have touched countless
 lives; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Rosa Rosales for her outstanding work in
 behalf of labor and civil rights and extend to her sincere best
 wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mrs. Rosales as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
