 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, First Baptist Church of Academy is celebrating its
 50th anniversary on March 8, 2009, and the event promises to be a
 memorable day filled with prayer, reflection, and celebration; and
 WHEREAS, Since it opened its doors in 1959, First Baptist has
 greatly benefited from the dedication of its leaders, including
 Pastor Brent Boatwright, who currently provides caring guidance to
 the membership; and
 WHEREAS, Although the church building was destroyed by fire
 in 1990, the congregation of First Baptist replaced the structure
 with a determination and optimism that touched others throughout
 the community; a recently published book detailing the first
 half-century of First Baptist includes photographs of the fire and
 the process of rebuilding; and
 WHEREAS, Today, the church offers opportunities for
 spiritual enrichment to the wider community through various
 outreach programs; among its efforts, the church sponsors
 ministries for children, singles, and seniors, as well as regular
 mission trips; and
 WHEREAS, For half a century, First Baptist Church has
 remained a source of strength, comfort, and inspiration for Central
 Texans, and it is fitting to recognize its congregants, past and
 present, on the occasion of this notable milestone; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of First
 Baptist Church of Academy and extend to Pastor Brent Boatwright and
 all members of this venerable Baptist church sincere best wishes
 for a meaningful celebration; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
