 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at
 the untimely loss of Alejos DeLeon of Dallas, who passed away on
 December 26, 2008, at the age of 47; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Andres and Avelina DeLeon, Alex DeLeon
 was born on July 21, 1961, in Denver City, Texas; he spent his early
 childhood in New Mexico before his family moved to Dallas in 1968;
 he graduated from Kimball High School and attended Hardin-Simmons
 University in Abilene; and
 WHEREAS, In 1978, Mr. DeLeon met his future wife, Mary Gomez,
 and the two were married in 1983; the couple shared 25 years of
 rewarding matrimony and were blessed with two children, Andrew and
 Nicole; and
 WHEREAS, An avid soccer player throughout his life, Mr.
 DeLeon earned the captain's spot on his high school team while only
 a freshman; he led the team to the state finals and went on to play
 at the college level for Hardin-Simmons; his passion for the game
 later motivated him to become involved in local soccer events and
 organizations, including many years of service with the Cup & Games
 Committee and with the Dallas Cup International Youth Soccer
 Tournament; moreover, he served a three-year term as vice president
 of the Oak Cliff Soccer Association and coached a local women's team
 since 1993 as well as a girls' under-five squad; and
 WHEREAS, This beloved Texan was strong in his faith, taking
 on the responsibilities of an altar server at Blessed Sacrament
 Catholic Church during his youth and becoming an usher for the
 congregation in his adulthood; and
 WHEREAS, Although his journey on this earth ended far too
 soon, Alex DeLeon touched the hearts of countless people with his
 kind and caring ways, and memories of him will forever be cherished
 by those fortunate enough to share in his life; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Alejos DeLeon and
 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
 Mary DeLeon; to his children, Andrew and Nicole DeLeon; to his
 parents, Andres and Avelina DeLeon; to his sisters, Valerie Jean
 DeLeon and Angela Savala; and to his other relatives and many
 friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alex
 DeLeon.
