H.R. No. 825
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, In a demonstration of great skill and teamwork, the
San Perlita High School Trojans basketball team captured the 2009
District 32-1A Division 2 championship; and
WHEREAS, The Trojans turned in a strong performance
throughout the 2008-2009 season, recording only one loss in eight
district games and finishing with an overall record of 19-13; this
season's 32-1A triumph follows previous district championships in
1999, 2001, 2004, and 2005, marking the fifth such title for San
Perlita in the last 10 years; and
WHEREAS, Head coach Tom Wolfe provided able guidance to the
San Perlita squad, who were propelled to the district crown by solid
teamwork and commanding individual performances by Josh Rodriguez,
Christian Hernandez, Julian Herrera, Luis Herrera, Stevan Nieto,
Rene Flores, Erein Barrera, Aaron Herrera, Johnathan Willis, and
David Tanguma; and
WHEREAS, Winning a district championship represents the
culmination of countless hours of hard work and an enduring
commitment to excellence, and these talented student-athletes will
carry the memory of this accomplishment with them for many years to
come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the San Perlita High School Trojans
basketball team on winning the 2009 District 32-1A Division 2
championship and extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
