H.R. No. 847 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to an end with the passing of George M. Turner of Austin on November 1, 2008, at the age of 72; and WHEREAS, Mr. Turner was the president of the State Employees Golf Association of Texas at the time of his passing, and he had held that office numerous times previously; he had a longtime interest in the sport and had worked as a golf pro for many years at several Austin courses; his extensive work with SEGA increased the association's membership from 40 to more than 200, and during his extraordinary tenure with the organization, he was considered the SEGA "Ambassador of Golf"; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was a U.S. Navy veteran and a former state employee, and he also spent many years ranching in Driftwood, where he was a charter member of the volunteer fire department; moreover, his involvement in the community included service as a deacon at Central Christian Church in Austin; and WHEREAS, George Turner had kind words for everyone he met, and he touched many lives with his tireless work in behalf of SEGA; although he is deeply missed, he is remembered with admiration and affection by all those who were privileged to share in his company; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of George Turner and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Earlene Turner; to his children, Terri Sparks, Danny Turner and his wife, Brenda, Jolynn Smith and her husband, Fred, and Donnie Turner and his wife, Cari; to his stepdaughter, Karla Eppler; to his stepson, Kurt Eppler, and his wife, Camilla; to his 12 grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George Turner.
