 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, John W. Cooper has been inducted into the Odessa
 Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame, and this occasion provides a
 fitting opportunity to honor this esteemed Texan; and
 WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio on June 28, 1925, John Cooper
 went on to graduate from Alamo Heights High School and to earn a
 bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University;
 answering his nation's call to duty, he joined the U.S. Army and
 served as an officer in the Philippines during World War II; in
 1947, he married Doris Couch in Gainesville, and the couple were
 blessed with two children, Deborah and John; they later shared the
 joy of welcoming four grandchildren into their treasured family;
 and
 WHEREAS, Since 1952, Mr. Cooper has owned a general
 construction business in Odessa, and his company has built numerous
 schools, churches, manufacturing plants, and other structures in
 Texas, New Mexico, and other states; in addition, Mr. Cooper has
 served as president of the West Texas chapter of the Associated
 General Contractors of America, as well as the Kiwanis Club of
 Odessa, the Odessa Country Club, and the Midland-Odessa Symphony
 and Chorale; he has also volunteered his time as a board member of
 the Salvation Army, United Way, Permian Playhouse, Odessa Boys Club
 Foundation, and Seabury Center, and he has been a faithful
 congregant of St. John's Episcopal Church for more than five
 decades; and
 WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community and his profession, John
 Cooper has garnered the lasting respect and admiration of his
 fellow residents, and he may indeed reflect with great pride on his
 civic contributions; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate John W. Cooper on his induction
 into the Odessa Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame and extend to him
 sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Cooper as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
