 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Basketball players Stefon Jackson and Randy
 Culpepper of The University of Texas at El Paso have earned great
 distinction by being named to the 2008-2009 All-Conference Team for
 Conference USA; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson, a senior guard from Philadelphia,
 Pennsylvania, was named to the all-conference first team; he is the
 all-time leading scorer both at UTEP and in Conference USA, being
 one of only two players in the league's 14-year history to surpass
 2,000 career points; he finished the 2008-2009 regular season as
 the second highest scoring player in the conference and the seventh
 most productive in the nation while also leading the country in free
 throws attempted and free throws made; moreover, he was named
 Conference USA player of the week on three occasions, giving him a
 total of five such awards for his career; and
 WHEREAS, A sophomore guard from Memphis, Tennessee,
 Mr. Culpepper received third team all-conference honors; he
 finished the regular season as the conference's sixth-leading
 scorer while also ranking fifth in steals, sixth in three-point
 field goals made per game, and seventh in three-point field goal
 percentage; his all-conference selection is the second major honor
 of his young career, as he was named Conference USA Sixth Man of the
 Year for 2007-2008; and
 WHEREAS, These accolades are a fitting tribute to the hard
 work and inspired play exhibited by these admirable
 student-athletes, and they may indeed take justifiable pride in a
 job well done; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Stefon Jackson and Randy Culpepper
 on being named to the 2008-2009 Conference USA All-Conference Team
 and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
 for Mr. Jackson and Mr. Culpepper as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
