5	5	WHEREAS, The live auction industry plays a vital role in the
6	6	economy of the Lone Star State, and it is indeed a pleasure to
7	7	welcome members of the Texas Auctioneers Association to the State
8	8	Capitol; and
9	9	WHEREAS, Founded in 1956, the TAA promotes the auction method
10	10	of marketing through education, public outreach, and the sharing of
11	11	information; it strives to establish and uphold the highest
12	12	professional standards for its 400 hardworking and talented
13	13	members; and
14	14	WHEREAS, Auctioneering has a long history in this country and
15	15	contributes $250 billion to the national economy every year,
16	16	including more than $500 million to this state's economy; Texas
17	17	auctioneers are active in all areas of commerce, including real
18	18	estate, automobile, and livestock sales, among others; and
19	19	WHEREAS, With their distinctive and entertaining calls,
20	20	auctioneers participate in a rich and colorful tradition, and their
21	21	industry helps to further the prosperity of Texas; now, therefore,
22	22	going once, going twice, going three times, be it
23	23	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
24	24	Legislature hereby recognize April 3, 2009, as Texas Auctioneers
25	25	Day at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting representatives
26	26	of the Texas Auctioneers Association sincere best wishes for
27	27	continued success.
