55 WHEREAS, The live auction industry plays a vital role in the
66 economy of the Lone Star State, and it is indeed a pleasure to
77 welcome members of the Texas Auctioneers Association to the State
88 Capitol; and
99 WHEREAS, Founded in 1956, the TAA promotes the auction method
1010 of marketing through education, public outreach, and the sharing of
1111 information; it strives to establish and uphold the highest
1212 professional standards for its 400 hardworking and talented
1313 members; and
1414 WHEREAS, Auctioneering has a long history in this country and
1515 contributes $250 billion to the national economy every year,
1616 including more than $500 million to this state's economy; Texas
1717 auctioneers are active in all areas of commerce, including real
1818 estate, automobile, and livestock sales, among others; and
1919 WHEREAS, With their distinctive and entertaining calls,
2020 auctioneers participate in a rich and colorful tradition, and their
2121 industry helps to further the prosperity of Texas; now, therefore,
2222 going once, going twice, going three times, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2424 Legislature hereby recognize April 3, 2009, as Texas Auctioneers
2525 Day at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting representatives
2626 of the Texas Auctioneers Association sincere best wishes for
2727 continued success.
