 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The live auction industry plays a vital role in the
 economy of the Lone Star State, and it is indeed a pleasure to
 welcome members of the Texas Auctioneers Association to the State
 Capitol; and
 WHEREAS, Founded in 1956, the TAA promotes the auction method
 of marketing through education, public outreach, and the sharing of
 information; it strives to establish and uphold the highest
 professional standards for its 400 hardworking and talented
 members; and
 WHEREAS, Auctioneering has a long history in this country and
 contributes $250 billion to the national economy every year,
 including more than $500 million to this state's economy; Texas
 auctioneers are active in all areas of commerce, including real
 estate, automobile, and livestock sales, among others; and
 WHEREAS, With their distinctive and entertaining calls,
 auctioneers participate in a rich and colorful tradition, and their
 industry helps to further the prosperity of Texas; now, therefore,
 going once, going twice, going three times, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize April 3, 2009, as Texas Auctioneers
 Day at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting representatives
 of the Texas Auctioneers Association sincere best wishes for
 continued success.
