66 relating to the evaluation of certain regional planning
77 commissions.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. (a) Before June 1, 2010, the state auditor
1010 shall audit a regional planning commission created under Chapter
1111 391, Local Government Code, that includes a county with a
1212 population of 3.3 million or more, according to the most recent
1313 federal decennial census. The cost of the audit shall be paid for
1414 by the regional planning commission.
1515 (b) On or before June 1, 2010, the state auditor shall
1616 submit a report of an audit conducted under Subsection (a) of this
1717 section to:
1818 (1) the commissioners court of a county with a
1919 population of 3.3 million or more, according to the most recent
2020 federal decennial census, that is a member of a regional planning
2121 commission described by Subsection (a) of this section; and
2222 (2) the governing body of any other political
2323 subdivision that is a member of a regional planning commission
2424 described by Subsection (a) of this section, if the governing body
2525 requests a report from the state auditor.
2626 (c) This section expires January 1, 2011.
2727 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2828 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2929 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3030 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3131 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
