| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 442, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 442.024 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 442.024. SCENIC LOOP--BOERNE STAGE ROAD DRIVING TRAIL. |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (a) The commission shall create a scenic driving trail that follows |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | part of the Old Spanish Trail automobile highway in Bexar and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Kendall Counties and consists of four legs. The first leg begins at |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | State Highway 16 in Helotes and continues north on the Scenic Loop |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Road to the intersection of the Boerne Stage Road and the Toutant |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Beauregard Road. The second leg begins at the Boerne Stage Road in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Leon Springs and continues west to the intersection of the Scenic |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Loop Road and the Toutant Beauregard Road. The third leg begins at |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the intersection of the Scenic Loop Road, the Boerne Stage Road, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the Toutant Beauregard Road and continues west on the Toutant |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Beauregard Road to the Kendall County line. The fourth leg begins |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | at the intersection of the Scenic Loop Road, the Boerne Stage Road, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and the Toutant Beauregard Road and continues north on the Boerne |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Stage Road to the Kendall County line then continues on the Scenic |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Loop Road to Boerne in Kendall County. |

| 28 | 28 | | (b) The scenic driving trail created by the commission shall |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | be known as the Scenic Loop--Boerne Stage Road Driving Trail. The |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Texas Department of Transportation shall erect a marker identifying |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | the Scenic Loop--Boerne Stage Road Driving Trail at appropriate |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | intermediate sites and at each end of each of the four legs of the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Scenic Loop--Boerne Stage Road Driving Trail. |

| 34 | 34 | | (c) The commission shall promote the scenic driving trail in |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | the materials and travel brochures promoting the Texas Heritage |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Trails Regions. |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
