| 14 | 14 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 15 | 15 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 301, Property Code, is amended by adding |

| 16 | 16 | | Subchapter J to read as follows: |

| 17 | 17 | | SUBCHAPTER J. STATE AND MUNICIPAL ACTIONS FOR |

| 18 | 18 | | FAIR HOUSING |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Sec. 301.201. ADMINISTRATION OF STATE PROGRAMS AND |

| 20 | 20 | | ACTIVITIES RELATING TO HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT. Each state |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | agency shall administer state programs and activities relating to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | housing and urban development in a manner that affirmatively |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | furthers the goals of fair housing under this chapter. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Sec. 301.202. ADMINISTRATION OF MUNICIPAL PROGRAMS AND |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | ACTIVITIES RELATING TO HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT. Each |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | municipality shall administer municipal programs and activities |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | relating to housing and urban development in a manner that |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | affirmatively furthers the goals of fair housing under this |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | chapter. |

| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |

| 31 | 31 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
