LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION April 17, 2009 TO: Honorable John Carona, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security FROM: John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:SB2437 by Uresti (Relating to the use by a metropolitan rapid transit authority of the construction manager-at-risk method for the construction, rehabilitation, alteration, or repair of a facility.), As Introduced No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend Section 271.118, Local Government Code, to authorize a metropolitan rapid transit authority to use the construction manager-at-risk method for construction, rehabilitation, alteration, or repair of a facility. Local Government Impact Authorizing another option in method for construction, rehabilitation, alteration, or repair of a facility would allow a metropolitan rapid transit authority more flexibility in selecting the most cost-effective method for a project, and would therefore have a positive fiscal impact. The fiscal impact would vary by project.
