| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 662.057 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 662.057. TEXAS BISON DAY. (a) September 12 is Texas | |
| 13 | 13 | Bison Day to celebrate the history and heritage of Texas bison. | |
| 14 | 14 | (b) Texas Bison Day shall be regularly observed in public | |
| 15 | 15 | schools and other places with programs to explore, discover, study, | |
| 16 | 16 | and appreciate the history and heritage of the Texas bison. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 18 | 18 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 19 | 19 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 20 | 20 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
