77 relating to creating a recognition day to celebrate the history and
88 heritage of Texas bison.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 662.057 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 662.057. TEXAS BISON DAY. (a) September 12 is Texas
1313 Bison Day to celebrate the history and heritage of Texas bison.
1414 (b) Texas Bison Day shall be regularly observed in public
1515 schools and other places with programs to explore, discover, study,
1616 and appreciate the history and heritage of the Texas bison.
1717 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1818 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1919 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2020 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2121 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
