 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to creating a recognition day to celebrate the history and
 heritage of Texas bison.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
 amended by adding Section 662.057 to read as follows:
 Sec. 662.057.  TEXAS BISON DAY. (a)  September 12 is Texas
 Bison Day to celebrate the history and heritage of Texas bison.
 (b)  Texas Bison Day shall be regularly observed in public
 schools and other places with programs to explore, discover, study,
 and appreciate the history and heritage of the Texas bison.
 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
