| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Countless lives were forever enriched by the |

| 6 | 6 | | inspiring leadership and joyful spirit of Patrick Honeycutt of |

| 7 | 7 | | Austin, who passed away on January 30, 2009, at the age of 63; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born to Frank and Frances Honeycutt on July 18, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1945, Pat Honeycutt grew up in Monahans and graduated from Sul Ross |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | State University; he and his wife, Nancy, raised a close-knit |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | family, and Mr. Honeycutt took great pride in his five children and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | two grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Honeycutt's gridiron coaching career began as an |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | assistant football coach and defensive coordinator for the Euless |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Trinity High School Trojans; in 1992 he became the head football |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | coach and athletic director for McCallum High School in Austin, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | where he remained until the time of his death; during his tenure, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | which spanned more than 17 years, Coach Honeycutt inspired numerous |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | student-athletes, and the McCallum Knights won three consecutive |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | district championships from 2004 to 2007; consistently generous |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | with his time, he showed his support for the school's other athletic |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | teams by attending those events as well; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Though it is impossible to gauge the full effect of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | one man's life, the admiration and affection felt for Pat Honeycutt |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | were evidenced by the attendance of some 2,500 people at a memorial |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | service held in his honor, and he leaves behind a legacy that will |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | long resonate in the lives of all who knew him; now, therefore, be |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Patrick Honeycutt and extend |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Nancy |

| 32 | 32 | | Honeycutt; to his children, Julie Bryant and her husband, Dan, |

| 33 | 33 | | Jamie Woods and her husband, Steve, Lauren and Ryan Honeycutt, and |

| 34 | 34 | | Tanner Kudela; to his mother, Frances Honeycutt; to his brothers, |
