44 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, Countless lives were forever enriched by the
66 inspiring leadership and joyful spirit of Patrick Honeycutt of
77 Austin, who passed away on January 30, 2009, at the age of 63; and
88 WHEREAS, Born to Frank and Frances Honeycutt on July 18,
99 1945, Pat Honeycutt grew up in Monahans and graduated from Sul Ross
1010 State University; he and his wife, Nancy, raised a close-knit
1111 family, and Mr. Honeycutt took great pride in his five children and
1212 two grandchildren; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mr. Honeycutt's gridiron coaching career began as an
1414 assistant football coach and defensive coordinator for the Euless
1515 Trinity High School Trojans; in 1992 he became the head football
1616 coach and athletic director for McCallum High School in Austin,
1717 where he remained until the time of his death; during his tenure,
1818 which spanned more than 17 years, Coach Honeycutt inspired numerous
1919 student-athletes, and the McCallum Knights won three consecutive
2020 district championships from 2004 to 2007; consistently generous
2121 with his time, he showed his support for the school's other athletic
2222 teams by attending those events as well; and
2323 WHEREAS, Though it is impossible to gauge the full effect of
2424 one man's life, the admiration and affection felt for Pat Honeycutt
2525 were evidenced by the attendance of some 2,500 people at a memorial
2626 service held in his honor, and he leaves behind a legacy that will
2727 long resonate in the lives of all who knew him; now, therefore, be
2828 it
2929 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
3030 hereby pay tribute to the life of Patrick Honeycutt and extend
3131 sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Nancy
3232 Honeycutt; to his children, Julie Bryant and her husband, Dan,
3333 Jamie Woods and her husband, Steve, Lauren and Ryan Honeycutt, and
3434 Tanner Kudela; to his mother, Frances Honeycutt; to his brothers,
3535 Mike Honeycutt and his wife, Sheryl, and Steve Honeycutt and his
3636 wife, Judy; to his grandchildren, Alex Weaver and Jake Bryant; to
3737 his nephews, Brad and Tyler Honeycutt; to his nieces, Jackie
3838 Marquette and Jennifer Haecker; and to his other relatives and many
3939 friends; and, be it further
4040 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4141 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4242 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
4343 Pat Honeycutt.
