S.C.R. No. 29 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Countless lives were forever enriched by the inspiring leadership and joyful spirit of Patrick Honeycutt of Austin, who passed away on January 30, 2009, at the age of 63; and WHEREAS, Born to Frank and Frances Honeycutt on July 18, 1945, Pat Honeycutt grew up in Monahans and graduated from Sul Ross State University; he and his wife, Nancy, raised a close-knit family, and Mr. Honeycutt took great pride in his five children and two grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mr. Honeycutt's gridiron coaching career began as an assistant football coach and defensive coordinator for the Euless Trinity High School Trojans; in 1992 he became the head football coach and athletic director for McCallum High School in Austin, where he remained until the time of his death; during his tenure, which spanned more than 17 years, Coach Honeycutt inspired numerous student-athletes, and the McCallum Knights won three consecutive district championships from 2004 to 2007; consistently generous with his time, he showed his support for the school's other athletic teams by attending those events as well; and WHEREAS, Though it is impossible to gauge the full effect of one man's life, the admiration and affection felt for Pat Honeycutt were evidenced by the attendance of some 2,500 people at a memorial service held in his honor, and he leaves behind a legacy that will long resonate in the lives of all who knew him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas hereby pay tribute to the life of Patrick Honeycutt and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Nancy Honeycutt; to his children, Julie Bryant and her husband, Dan, Jamie Woods and her husband, Steve, Lauren and Ryan Honeycutt, and Tanner Kudela; to his mother, Frances Honeycutt; to his brothers, Mike Honeycutt and his wife, Sheryl, and Steve Honeycutt and his wife, Judy; to his grandchildren, Alex Weaver and Jake Bryant; to his nephews, Brad and Tyler Honeycutt; to his nieces, Jackie Marquette and Jennifer Haecker; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of Pat Honeycutt. ______________________________ ______________________________ President of the Senate Speaker of the House I hereby certify that S.C.R.
