| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas takes pleasure |

| 6 | 6 | | in recognizing the City of Grapevine as the Christmas Capital of |

| 7 | 7 | | Texas; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Throughout the past decade, the City of Grapevine |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | has been engaged each year in expanding its repertoire of Christmas |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | activities in order to offer one of the most enjoyable experiences |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of Christmas in Texas; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, During the Christmas season, the city is now the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | site of over 1,400 Christmas activities and special features that |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | range from alluring light decorations to magnificent stage |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | productions at the Palace Theatre; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The attractions also include the Gaylord Texan Lone |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Star Christmas ICE! event, the Great Wolf Lodge "Snowland," |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Christmas on Main entertainment, horse-drawn buckboard and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | carriage rides, the North Pole Express, and the Christmas Gnome |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Village and North Pole Polar Bear display; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Animated Victorian characters are installed |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | throughout the city, and residents in costumes stroll the Historic |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | District; choreographed light shows are held every evening at Town |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Square, and countless Christmas lights illuminate the streets; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The arrival of the Christmas season in Grapevine is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | an opportunity for residents and visitors to celebrate the city's |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | rich history, its charm, and the many amenities it offers today; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | hereby declare the City of Grapevine the Christmas Capital of Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and extend best wishes to all who contribute to the unique |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | experience of Christmas in Grapevine; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared in honor |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | of Grapevine and its impressive Christmas seasons. |
