 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas takes pleasure
 in recognizing Ballet Lubbock on the occasion of its 40th
 anniversary, which is being celebrated during its 2009-2010 season;
 and
 WHEREAS, Founded in 1969 by Suzanne Aker, Ballet Lubbock is
 currently led by one of her former students, artistic director
 Yvonne Racz; the company boasts a first-rate dance facility and an
 enrollment of nearly 200 students annually in its school; ongoing
 classes are also offered at three Lubbock community centers; and
 WHEREAS, The only preprofessional performing company on the
 South Plains, Ballet Lubbock has launched the careers of
 professional dancers, choreographers, and teachers throughout the
 country; the company's season includes The Nutcracker and an annual
 spring performance; a fall performance will soon augment its
 program; and
 WHEREAS, Through its popular performances and its
 outstanding dance school, Ballet Lubbock makes classical dance
 accessible to the entire community and serves as a major cultural
 and educational asset to area citizens; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
 hereby commend Ballet Lubbock on its valuable role as an artistic
 performing company in the South Plains community and extend
 congratulations to all associated with Ballet Lubbock on the
 occasion of its 40th anniversary; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the
 company as an expression of esteem from the Texas Legislature.
