1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1002
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize the Reverend Dr. Harvey L. Hollmon, who is celebrating
4	4	25 years as pastor of the Alta Mesa Park Baptist Church in Dallas
5	5	and his 60th year in the gospel ministry; and
6	6	WHEREAS, Harvey Hollmon accepted the call to the ministry
7	7	at a young age; he received his early education in New Orleans
8	8	public schools, and he earned degrees from Bishop College,
9	9	Southwestern Theological Seminary, Rialto Community College, and
10	10	Trinity Theological Seminary; and
11	11	WHEREAS, He has served as chaplain for Castle Peak, Holiday
12	12	Hills, and Crystal Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility and
13	13	as dean of the Interracial Baptist Institute; and
14	14	WHEREAS, He has also served as senior pastor at Mount Olive
15	15	Baptist Church of Asa, Texas, and Antioch Baptist Church in
16	16	Topeka, Kansas; he was an assistant pastor at Eastland Street
17	17	Baptist Church in Fort Worth; and
18	18	WHEREAS, A gifted author and teacher, Pastor Hollmon has
19	19	given lectures and conducted seminars throughout the states of
20	20	Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, California, Colorado, and Louisiana; he
21	21	has served as an instructor for the Congress of Christian Workers
22	22	at the National Baptist Convention of America, and he is the
23	23	founder and president of the Harvey L. Hollmon Christian Teaching
24	24	and Counseling Ministry; and
25	25	WHEREAS, A man of spiritual depth and devotion, Pastor
26	26	Hollmon has performed countless ceremonies and has prayed for and
27	27	counseled his church members during their hardships and times of
28	28	bereavement, and he has had a positive influence on the lives of
29	29	many Christians; now, therefore, be it
30	30	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas hereby
31	31	commend the Reverend Dr. Harvey L. Hollmon on his 60 years of
32	32	service in the ministry and his 25 years as pastor of the Alta
33	33	Mesa Park Baptist Church; and, be it further
34	34	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
35	35	him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
