SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1002 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Reverend Dr. Harvey L. Hollmon, who is celebrating 25 years as pastor of the Alta Mesa Park Baptist Church in Dallas and his 60th year in the gospel ministry; and WHEREAS, Harvey Hollmon accepted the call to the ministry at a young age; he received his early education in New Orleans public schools, and he earned degrees from Bishop College, Southwestern Theological Seminary, Rialto Community College, and Trinity Theological Seminary; and WHEREAS, He has served as chaplain for Castle Peak, Holiday Hills, and Crystal Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility and as dean of the Interracial Baptist Institute; and WHEREAS, He has also served as senior pastor at Mount Olive Baptist Church of Asa, Texas, and Antioch Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas; he was an assistant pastor at Eastland Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, A gifted author and teacher, Pastor Hollmon has given lectures and conducted seminars throughout the states of Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, California, Colorado, and Louisiana; he has served as an instructor for the Congress of Christian Workers at the National Baptist Convention of America, and he is the founder and president of the Harvey L. Hollmon Christian Teaching and Counseling Ministry; and WHEREAS, A man of spiritual depth and devotion, Pastor Hollmon has performed countless ceremonies and has prayed for and counseled his church members during their hardships and times of bereavement, and he has had a positive influence on the lives of many Christians; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas hereby commend the Reverend Dr. Harvey L. Hollmon on his 60 years of service in the ministry and his 25 years as pastor of the Alta Mesa Park Baptist Church; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
