| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Mamie's Restaurant, which is closing its doors after |

| 4 | 4 | | nearly a half century of delivering outstanding food and service |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | to the San Antonio community; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1960 by Mamie Wong, this San |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Antonio institution has grown from a small location at Carter and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Zarzamora Streets where people waited in long lines for the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | excellent fish dinners to a restaurant that has become a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | gathering place for generations of families to meet, work, and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | eat in a family-friendly atmosphere; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, When Mamie Wong retired in 1981, her son Wallace |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | moved the business to its current location; through the years, it |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | has not only provided area residents with excellent food and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | service, but also served as a place where young people could gain |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | valuable work experience and where neighborhood regulars and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | employees alike could enjoy the pleasures of seeing each other's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | families grow to adulthood; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mamie's Restaurant has served the citizens of San |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Antonio well and faithfully for nearly 50 years, and although it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | is closing its doors, it will live on in the memories of the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | countless people who have enjoyed its charms; now, therefore, be |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Wong family for its commitment to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | quality and service throughout nearly half a century of operating |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Mamie's Restaurant and extend to them best wishes for continued |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | success in all their future endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | commemoration of the closing of this San Antonio institution and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
