55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Ruth Ann
77 Wentworth Smith, who died November 4, 2008, at the age of 69; and
88 WHEREAS, Born September 18, 1939, Ruth Ann Wentworth Smith
99 was an exemplary citizen who was respected in the community for
1010 her many accomplishments; and
1111 WHEREAS, Mrs. Smith will be remembered for her
1212 graciousness, her dignity, and her dauntless spirit; and
1313 WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion,
1414 Mrs. Smith gave generously to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and
1515 valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and
1616 WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife and mother, and she leaves
1717 behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and
1818 many friends; now, therefore, be it
1919 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
2020 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
2121 family of Ruth Ann Wentworth Smith: her husband, Bennett Smith;
2222 her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Berry Nall; and her son,
2323 Phillip W. Davis; and, be it further
2424 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2525 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
2626 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
2727 memory of Ruth Ann Wentworth Smith.
