SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 102 In Memory of Ruth Ann Wentworth Smith WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Ruth Ann Wentworth Smith, who died November 4, 2008, at the age of 69; and WHEREAS, Born September 18, 1939, Ruth Ann Wentworth Smith was an exemplary citizen who was respected in the community for her many accomplishments; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Smith will be remembered for her graciousness, her dignity, and her dauntless spirit; and WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, Mrs. Smith gave generously to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife and mother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Ruth Ann Wentworth Smith: her husband, Bennett Smith; her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Berry Nall; and her son, Phillip W. Davis; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ruth Ann Wentworth Smith.
