SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1031 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Anne Cynthia Leon for her long and distinguished career with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development; and WHEREAS, Anne Cynthia Leon began her career with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development as an intern in 1972; since then, she has served the department in a variety of posts, including director of Native American programs, director of public housing in the Denver regional office, director of the San Antonio field office, and her latest position, as regional director for Region VI; and WHEREAS, As regional director for Region VI, Anne Cynthia Leon has been responsible for the delivery of department programs and services to more than 33 million Americans in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, and New Mexico; and WHEREAS, In 2007, Anne Cynthia Leon retired from the United States Naval Reserve with the rank of captain; she is a veteran of the Gulf War and Operation Desert Storm; and WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Anne Cynthia Leon has been known for her superior skills and expertise; talented and resourceful, she has handled her many responsibilities with exceptional efficiency and dedication; and WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Anne Cynthia Leon is respected and admired by her colleagues, and her outstanding tenure at the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development exemplifies the spirit and honor of public service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Anne Cynthia Leon on her exceptional service to our state and nation with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
