| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize David Stewart, who is retiring from his position as |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | director of the Alamo on May 31, 2009; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart joined the staff of the Alamo as |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | director in 2002; in the intervening years, he has played an |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | important role in preserving the historic site for future |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | generations; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Under Mr. Stewart's exemplary leadership, the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Alamo's educational programs have undergone a major expansion |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and a new master plan for the site has been developed; he has also |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | emphasized the preservation of the Alamo's physical structure; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In acknowledgement of Mr. Stewart's outstanding |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | service, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas are hosting a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | reception in his honor on May 28, 2009, at Alamo Hall; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart is respected and admired by his |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | colleagues, and his presence as director of the Alamo will be |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Legislature, hereby commend David Stewart on his exemplary |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | service as Alamo director and extend to him best wishes for the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | retirement years ahead; and, be it further |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
