SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1036
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize David Stewart, who is retiring from his position as
director of the Alamo on May 31, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart joined the staff of the Alamo as
director in 2002; in the intervening years, he has played an
important role in preserving the historic site for future
generations; and
WHEREAS, Under Mr. Stewart's exemplary leadership, the
Alamo's educational programs have undergone a major expansion
and a new master plan for the site has been developed; he has also
emphasized the preservation of the Alamo's physical structure;
and
WHEREAS, In acknowledgement of Mr. Stewart's outstanding
service, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas are hosting a
reception in his honor on May 28, 2009, at Alamo Hall; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart is respected and admired by his
colleagues, and his presence as director of the Alamo will be
greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
Legislature, hereby commend David Stewart on his exemplary
service as Alamo director and extend to him best wishes for the
retirement years ahead; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
