| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize John C. Padalino, an exemplary El Paso citizen and a |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | community leader, who was recently appointed to the United States |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Department of Agriculture; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and of Rutgers School of Law, John Padalino has served as an |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | associate with Kemp Smith, LLP, and has worked as general counsel |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | for the water districts of El Paso County; he has also handled |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | antitrust and other commercial litigation and has been a briefing |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | attorney on briefs submitted to the United States Supreme Court; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, He helped to establish El Paso Grassroots, an |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | initiative to continue a movement to enhance the quality of life |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | in the El Paso region, and he has organized events in El Paso that |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | encourage citizens to learn about and discuss local, state, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | national issues; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, He has coordinated Organizing for America locally |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and has served as a volunteer to help gain support for Barack |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Obama's health care, education, and energy initiatives; he was an |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | active member of the Democratic Party Unity initiative; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, John Padalino has accepted a political |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | appointment by the Obama administration for a position at the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | United States Department of Agriculture; he exemplifies those |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | citizens who participate in democracy, energize their community, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and, due to their dedication and talent, are offered the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | opportunity to serve on the national level; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend John C. Padalino on his exceptional |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | community leadership and extend congratulations to him on his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | appointment to the United States Department of Agriculture; and, |
