| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Garnet Austin Coleman was born June 21, 1992, to |

| 3 | 3 | | Garnet and Angelique Coleman; and |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | WHEREAS, Austin was a pretty baby just like all babies are |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | pretty; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, As parents, the Colemans were as nervous as anyone |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | with a newborn, but when Austin started preschool, it was clear |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | that he had a bright and promising future ahead of him; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Starting the first grade at age five, Austin went |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | on through the gifted and talented program at Poe Elementary in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Houston, Texas; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, He then progressed to the Vanguard program at |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Lanier Middle School in Houston, Texas, where in seventh grade he |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | joined the band, and played the flute; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, From middle school, he advanced to the Vanguard |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | program at Bellaire Senior High School in Houston, Texas, where |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | he studied, among other things, Chinese and German, and where he |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | also became a member of the Cardinals marching band, becoming an |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | officer of the band in his senior year, and was selected as a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | member of the National Honor Society; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Austin will attend the University of Southern |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | California in the fall of 2009, where he will try out for the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | university's Spirit of Troy Marching Band; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby honor Garnet Austin Coleman on his |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | graduation from Bellaire Senior High School and his outstanding |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | efforts in academics and music; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | prepared for Mr. Coleman as an expression of high regard from the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Texas Senate. |
