11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1120
22 WHEREAS, Garnet Austin Coleman was born June 21, 1992, to
33 Garnet and Angelique Coleman; and
44 WHEREAS, Austin was a pretty baby just like all babies are
55 pretty; and
66 WHEREAS, As parents, the Colemans were as nervous as anyone
77 with a newborn, but when Austin started preschool, it was clear
88 that he had a bright and promising future ahead of him; and
99 WHEREAS, Starting the first grade at age five, Austin went
1010 on through the gifted and talented program at Poe Elementary in
1111 Houston, Texas; and
1212 WHEREAS, He then progressed to the Vanguard program at
1313 Lanier Middle School in Houston, Texas, where in seventh grade he
1414 joined the band, and played the flute; and
1515 WHEREAS, From middle school, he advanced to the Vanguard
1616 program at Bellaire Senior High School in Houston, Texas, where
1717 he studied, among other things, Chinese and German, and where he
1818 also became a member of the Cardinals marching band, becoming an
1919 officer of the band in his senior year, and was selected as a
2020 member of the National Honor Society; and
2121 WHEREAS, Austin will attend the University of Southern
2222 California in the fall of 2009, where he will try out for the
2323 university's Spirit of Troy Marching Band; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
2525 Legislature, hereby honor Garnet Austin Coleman on his
2626 graduation from Bellaire Senior High School and his outstanding
2727 efforts in academics and music; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
2929 prepared for Mr. Coleman as an expression of high regard from the
3030 Texas Senate.
