                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1120
 WHEREAS, Garnet Austin Coleman was born June 21, 1992, to
 Garnet and Angelique Coleman; and
 WHEREAS, Austin was a pretty baby just like all babies are
 pretty; and
 WHEREAS, As parents, the Colemans were as nervous as anyone
 with a newborn, but when Austin started preschool, it was clear
 that he had a bright and promising future ahead of him; and
 WHEREAS, Starting the first grade at age five, Austin went
 on through the gifted and talented program at Poe Elementary in
 Houston, Texas; and
 WHEREAS, He then progressed to the Vanguard program at
 Lanier Middle School in Houston, Texas, where in seventh grade he
 joined the band, and played the flute; and
 WHEREAS, From middle school, he advanced to the Vanguard
 program at Bellaire Senior High School in Houston, Texas, where
 he studied, among other things, Chinese and German, and where he
 also became a member of the Cardinals marching band, becoming an
 officer of the band in his senior year, and was selected as a
 member of the National Honor Society; and
 WHEREAS, Austin will attend the University of Southern
 California in the fall of 2009, where he will try out for the
 university's Spirit of Troy Marching Band; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby honor Garnet Austin Coleman on his
 graduation from Bellaire Senior High School and his outstanding
 efforts in academics and music; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Coleman as an expression of high regard from the
 Texas Senate.
