| 5 | 5 | | Service Award for outstanding community service in 2007-2008; |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Texas radio and television broadcasters are among |

| 8 | 8 | | the leading providers of community service in our state; since |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1998, their contributions to local community service advertising |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | campaigns have exceeded $3.7 billion; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Under the outstanding leadership of Teresa |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Burgess, KGBT-TV has helped to make a difference in the lives of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the citizens of the Rio Grande Valley, providing them free news, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | entertainment, sports, weather information, and emergency |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | alerts; it is truly deserving of recognition for its many |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | contributions to the civic life of the region; now, therefore, be it |

| 17 | 17 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

| 18 | 18 | | Legislature, hereby commend KGBT-TV in the Rio Grande Valley on |

| 19 | 19 | | its commitment to community service and extend congratulations |

| 20 | 20 | | to the station on being named the recipient of the Bonner McLane |
