SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 122
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize KGBT-TV in the Rio Grande Valley, which has received
the Texas Association of Broadcasters' Bonner McLane Public
Service Award for outstanding community service in 2007-2008;
and
WHEREAS, Texas radio and television broadcasters are among
the leading providers of community service in our state; since
1998, their contributions to local community service advertising
campaigns have exceeded $3.7 billion; and
WHEREAS, Under the outstanding leadership of Teresa
Burgess, KGBT-TV has helped to make a difference in the lives of
the citizens of the Rio Grande Valley, providing them free news,
entertainment, sports, weather information, and emergency
alerts; it is truly deserving of recognition for its many
contributions to the civic life of the region; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
Legislature, hereby commend KGBT-TV in the Rio Grande Valley on
its commitment to community service and extend congratulations
to the station on being named the recipient of the Bonner McLane
Public Service Award; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the station as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
