| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | citizens of Corpus Christi and San Antonio in mourning the loss |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of Dr. Orlando Julio Sanchez, who died January 24, 2009, at the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | age of 87; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born June 15, 1921, in Guerrero, Tamaulipas, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Mexico, Orlando Sanchez married his beloved Eulalia Cantu in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1955, and the couple made their home in Corpus Christi; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Orlando served his country during World War II as |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | a combat fighter engineer gunner and received several medals for |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | flying over 50 missions; after healing from a wartime injury, he |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | attended Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio and graduated |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | in 1947; he opened his first chiropractic office in Corpus |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Christi in 1949; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A devout Catholic, he was a member of Christ the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | King Catholic Parish and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | for many years; he and Eulalia moved to San Antonio in October of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 2005; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Dr. Sanchez was respected |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | in the community for his many accomplishments; he was a man of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | integrity and generosity who gave unselfishly to others; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Orlando Sanchez was beloved by many, and he leaves |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | family of Dr. Orlando Julio Sanchez; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |

| 34 | 34 | | memory of Orlando Sanchez. |
