                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 148
 In Memory
 of
 Orlando Julio Sanchez
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Corpus Christi and San Antonio in mourning the loss
 of Dr. Orlando Julio Sanchez, who died January 24, 2009, at the
 age of 87; and
 WHEREAS, Born June 15, 1921, in Guerrero, Tamaulipas,
 Mexico, Orlando Sanchez married his beloved Eulalia Cantu in
 1955, and the couple made their home in Corpus Christi; and
 WHEREAS, Orlando served his country during World War II as
 a combat fighter engineer gunner and received several medals for
 flying over 50 missions; after healing from a wartime injury, he
 attended Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio and graduated
 in 1947; he opened his first chiropractic office in Corpus
 Christi in 1949; and
 WHEREAS, A devout Catholic, he was a member of Christ the
 King Catholic Parish and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus
 for many years; he and Eulalia moved to San Antonio in October of
 2005; and
 WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Dr. Sanchez was respected
 in the community for his many accomplishments; he was a man of
 integrity and generosity who gave unselfishly to others; and
 WHEREAS, Orlando Sanchez was beloved by many, and he leaves
 behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
 many friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Dr. Orlando Julio Sanchez; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Orlando Sanchez.
