1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 164
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize the Tax Assessor-Collectors Association of Texas and
4	4	its members on the occasion of their visit to the Texas Capitol;
5	5	and
6	6	WHEREAS, The tax assessor-collectors association is made
7	7	up of the elected tax assessors and sheriffs who perform tax
8	8	assessor duties for the 254 counties in the State of Texas; and
9	9	WHEREAS, The association was founded in 1934 for the
10	10	purposes of promoting professional standards, unifying tax
11	11	assessor-collectors' actions for the benefit of their
12	12	constituents, raising awareness and participation in the
13	13	legislative process, and providing a vehicle to educate the
14	14	association's members in the proper conduct of the
15	15	constitutional office of tax assessor-collector in Texas; and
16	16	WHEREAS, The mission of the tax assessor-collectors
17	17	association is to secure the benefits of shared ideas and
18	18	discussion of mutual problems to advance and maintain proper
19	19	efficiency and dignity in county tax offices; and
20	20	WHEREAS, The tax assessor-collectors collect revenue for
21	21	governmental entities both through property taxes and by
22	22	licensing and titling all motor vehicles in the state as agents
23	23	of the Texas Department of Transportation; now, therefore, be it
24	24	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
25	25	Legislature, hereby commend the Tax Assessor-Collectors
26	26	Association of Texas on its history of outstanding work in
27	27	supporting and improving the operations of the tax
28	28	assessor-collectors across the state and extend best wishes for
29	29	another successful year in 2009; and, be it further
30	30	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a
31	31	memento of congratulations and thanks to the tax-assessor
32	32	collectors association and its members for their service to the
33	33	State of Texas.
