SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 164 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Tax Assessor-Collectors Association of Texas and its members on the occasion of their visit to the Texas Capitol; and WHEREAS, The tax assessor-collectors association is made up of the elected tax assessors and sheriffs who perform tax assessor duties for the 254 counties in the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, The association was founded in 1934 for the purposes of promoting professional standards, unifying tax assessor-collectors' actions for the benefit of their constituents, raising awareness and participation in the legislative process, and providing a vehicle to educate the association's members in the proper conduct of the constitutional office of tax assessor-collector in Texas; and WHEREAS, The mission of the tax assessor-collectors association is to secure the benefits of shared ideas and discussion of mutual problems to advance and maintain proper efficiency and dignity in county tax offices; and WHEREAS, The tax assessor-collectors collect revenue for governmental entities both through property taxes and by licensing and titling all motor vehicles in the state as agents of the Texas Department of Transportation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend the Tax Assessor-Collectors Association of Texas on its history of outstanding work in supporting and improving the operations of the tax assessor-collectors across the state and extend best wishes for another successful year in 2009; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a memento of congratulations and thanks to the tax-assessor collectors association and its members for their service to the State of Texas.
