| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Gerald Borders, who is retiring after 44 years of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | outstanding service to Texas Instruments, Incorporated; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Borders joined Texas Instruments in 1963 as a |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | contractor; through the years, he has held several important |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | positions within the company, and he is retiring as director of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | public affairs; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Mr. Borders has been noted |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | for his superior communication skills and leadership abilities; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | he was called upon by company leadership to serve as a full-time |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | loaned executive to Paul Quinn College, and as a member of the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | public affairs division, he was able to marshal tens of thousands |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of volunteer hours in support of tutoring programs for Dallas |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | schools; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, Mr. Borders has made a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | difference in the lives of company employees and citizens alike |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | through his work with the Dallas County Human Relations |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Commission, the Dallas Together Forum, and many other worthy |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | organizations; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Borders has worked with Congresswoman Eddie |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Bernice Johnson and served as an advisor to Senator Kay Bailey |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Hutchison and various Dallas city officials, in addition to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | serving as a mentor to several generations of Texas Instruments |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | employees; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary employee and executive, Mr. Borders |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | is respected and admired by his colleagues, and his presence at |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Texas Instruments will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Gerald Borders on his long and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | productive career with Texas Instruments and his many |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | contributions to the civic life of the Dallas community and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be |
|---|
