11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 181
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize Gerald Borders, who is retiring after 44 years of
44 outstanding service to Texas Instruments, Incorporated; and
55 WHEREAS, Mr. Borders joined Texas Instruments in 1963 as a
66 contractor; through the years, he has held several important
77 positions within the company, and he is retiring as director of
88 public affairs; and
99 WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Mr. Borders has been noted
1010 for his superior communication skills and leadership abilities;
1111 he was called upon by company leadership to serve as a full-time
1212 loaned executive to Paul Quinn College, and as a member of the
1313 public affairs division, he was able to marshal tens of thousands
1414 of volunteer hours in support of tutoring programs for Dallas
1515 schools; and
1616 WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, Mr. Borders has made a
1717 difference in the lives of company employees and citizens alike
1818 through his work with the Dallas County Human Relations
1919 Commission, the Dallas Together Forum, and many other worthy
2020 organizations; and
2121 WHEREAS, Mr. Borders has worked with Congresswoman Eddie
2222 Bernice Johnson and served as an advisor to Senator Kay Bailey
2323 Hutchison and various Dallas city officials, in addition to
2424 serving as a mentor to several generations of Texas Instruments
2525 employees; and
2626 WHEREAS, An exemplary employee and executive, Mr. Borders
2727 is respected and admired by his colleagues, and his presence at
2828 Texas Instruments will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
2929 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
3030 Legislature, hereby commend Gerald Borders on his long and
3131 productive career with Texas Instruments and his many
3232 contributions to the civic life of the Dallas community and
3333 extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be
3434 it further
3535 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3636 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
