                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 181
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Gerald Borders, who is retiring after 44 years of
 outstanding service to Texas Instruments, Incorporated; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Borders joined Texas Instruments in 1963 as a
 contractor; through the years, he has held several important
 positions within the company, and he is retiring as director of
 public affairs; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Mr. Borders has been noted
 for his superior communication skills and leadership abilities;
 he was called upon by company leadership to serve as a full-time
 loaned executive to Paul Quinn College, and as a member of the
 public affairs division, he was able to marshal tens of thousands
 of volunteer hours in support of tutoring programs for Dallas
 schools; and
 WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, Mr. Borders has made a
 difference in the lives of company employees and citizens alike
 through his work with the Dallas County Human Relations
 Commission, the Dallas Together Forum, and many other worthy
 organizations; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Borders has worked with Congresswoman Eddie
 Bernice Johnson and served as an advisor to Senator Kay Bailey
 Hutchison and various Dallas city officials, in addition to
 serving as a mentor to several generations of Texas Instruments
 employees; and
 WHEREAS, An exemplary employee and executive, Mr. Borders
 is respected and admired by his colleagues, and his presence at
 Texas Instruments will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby commend Gerald Borders on his long and
 productive career with Texas Instruments and his many
 contributions to the civic life of the Dallas community and
 extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
