11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 182
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
33 recognizing Philip J. Ritter, who is retiring from his position
44 as senior vice president with Texas Instruments, Incorporated;
55 and
66 WHEREAS, After 20 years of loyal service with Texas
77 Instruments, Mr. Ritter is retiring to pursue long-held plans for
88 public service; prior to joining Texas Instruments, Mr. Ritter
99 served as an attorney for Sun Exploration and Production Company;
1010 he joined Texas Instruments in 1989 and served as counsel in the
1111 company's law department; and
1212 WHEREAS, Elected senior vice president of Texas
1313 Instruments in September of 2001, he assumed leadership of the
1414 company's Public Affairs department and has had global
1515 responsibility for the company's governmental relations and
1616 philanthropic and community activities; and
1717 WHEREAS, Entrusted with the company's reputation and
1818 legacy of corporate citizenship, he has served with intelligence
1919 and passion, and his talent and skill are manifest in the
2020 company's impressive standing with governmental, civic, and
2121 community leaders today; and
2222 WHEREAS, In addition to establishing critical
2323 relationships for Texas Instruments, Phil has formed tax and
2424 trade policies that assured market access and saved the company
2525 millions of dollars annually; he has been responsible for
2626 philanthropic strategies in China, India, and Europe and for the
2727 company's educational initiatives on state and national levels;
2828 and
2929 WHEREAS, Phil Ritter has also served as an outstanding
3030 leader in his community, and his role in that regard has been an
3131 asset to Texas Instruments, as well as to the many organizations
3232 with which he has been affiliated; his notable leadership has
3333 included serving as chairman of the board of United Way of
3434 Metropolitan Dallas, chairing the Dallas County Community
3535 College District bond campaign in 2004, and serving on the Dallas
3636 Area Rapid Transit Board in the 1990s; he is the 2008 recipient of
3737 the Leadership Dallas Distinguished Alumni Award; now,
3838 therefore, be it
3939 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
4040 Legislature, hereby commend Philip J. Ritter on his invaluable
4141 contributions to Texas Instruments and his exemplary dedication
4242 to the company and the community and extend to him best wishes for
4343 the future; and, be it further
4444 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4545 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
