2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in |

3 | 3 | | recognizing Philip J. Ritter, who is retiring from his position |

4 | 4 | | as senior vice president with Texas Instruments, Incorporated; |
---|
5 | 5 | | and |
---|
6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, After 20 years of loyal service with Texas |
---|
7 | 7 | | Instruments, Mr. Ritter is retiring to pursue long-held plans for |
---|
8 | 8 | | public service; prior to joining Texas Instruments, Mr. Ritter |
---|
9 | 9 | | served as an attorney for Sun Exploration and Production Company; |
---|
10 | 10 | | he joined Texas Instruments in 1989 and served as counsel in the |
---|
11 | 11 | | company's law department; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Elected senior vice president of Texas |
---|
13 | 13 | | Instruments in September of 2001, he assumed leadership of the |
---|
14 | 14 | | company's Public Affairs department and has had global |
---|
15 | 15 | | responsibility for the company's governmental relations and |
---|
16 | 16 | | philanthropic and community activities; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Entrusted with the company's reputation and |
---|
18 | 18 | | legacy of corporate citizenship, he has served with intelligence |
---|
19 | 19 | | and passion, and his talent and skill are manifest in the |
---|
20 | 20 | | company's impressive standing with governmental, civic, and |
---|
21 | 21 | | community leaders today; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In addition to establishing critical |
---|
23 | 23 | | relationships for Texas Instruments, Phil has formed tax and |
---|
24 | 24 | | trade policies that assured market access and saved the company |
---|
25 | 25 | | millions of dollars annually; he has been responsible for |
---|
26 | 26 | | philanthropic strategies in China, India, and Europe and for the |
---|
27 | 27 | | company's educational initiatives on state and national levels; |
---|
28 | 28 | | and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Phil Ritter has also served as an outstanding |
---|
30 | 30 | | leader in his community, and his role in that regard has been an |
---|
31 | 31 | | asset to Texas Instruments, as well as to the many organizations |
---|
32 | 32 | | with which he has been affiliated; his notable leadership has |
---|
33 | 33 | | included serving as chairman of the board of United Way of |
---|
34 | 34 | | Metropolitan Dallas, chairing the Dallas County Community |
---|
35 | 35 | | College District bond campaign in 2004, and serving on the Dallas |
---|
36 | 36 | | Area Rapid Transit Board in the 1990s; he is the 2008 recipient of |
---|
37 | 37 | | the Leadership Dallas Distinguished Alumni Award; now, |
---|
38 | 38 | | therefore, be it |

39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
---|
40 | 40 | | Legislature, hereby commend Philip J. Ritter on his invaluable |
---|
41 | 41 | | contributions to Texas Instruments and his exemplary dedication |
---|
42 | 42 | | to the company and the community and extend to him best wishes for |
---|
43 | 43 | | the future; and, be it further |

44 | 44 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
