                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 184
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 join citizens across the state in celebrating February 16, 2009,
 as Texas SkillsUSA Day at the State Capitol; and
 WHEREAS, Texas SkillsUSA is a nonprofit youth organization
 dedicated to facilitating trade and industrial education and
 enhancing curricula so that young men and women are better able
 to meet the demands of today's changing job market; and
 WHEREAS, Texas SkillsUSA brings together educators,
 administrators, corporate leaders, labor organizations, trade
 associations, and government entities in a coordinated effort to
 address the need for a globally competitive, skilled, and
 educated workforce; and
 WHEREAS, The program's proven system produces well-trained
 entry-level employees for a variety of job markets and teaches
 the importance of developing leadership skills, positive
 attitudes, and pride in workmanship; and
 WHEREAS, With more than 1,000 chapters in Texas schools
 serving more than 15,000 students, Texas SkillsUSA plays a vital
 role in maintaining American productivity, quality, and
 competitiveness; it is justly deserving of recognition for its
 work across our state; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby commend the men and women involved in Texas
 SkillsUSA on their outstanding efforts at creating a more
 productive workforce and extend to them a warm welcome to Austin
 for Texas SkillsUSA Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
 honor of this special day.
