55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of Pflugerville in mourning the loss of Lane Alton
77 Zivley, who died January 18, 2009, at the age of 69; and
88 WHEREAS, Lane Zivley was born January 15, 1940, in Temple;
99 a 1958 graduate of Temple High School, he went on to attend The
1010 University of Texas and Sam Houston State University; he met
1111 Gloria June Boswell in 1966, and the couple married shortly
1212 thereafter, sharing a life of love and devotion; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mr. Zivley was a man of many interests, passions,
1414 and vocations; he was a salesman, sports official, and manager of
1515 a rock and roll band, but his role as a public servant serves as
1616 his enduring legacy; and
1717 WHEREAS, He gave 15 years of loyal service to the state,
1818 and he also served as executive director of the Texas Public
1919 Employees Association; for 25 years he effectively represented
2020 the association before the Texas Legislature, helping to craft
2121 and pass legislation to benefit the public employees of Texas;
2222 and
2323 WHEREAS, An avid hunter and sports fan, Mr. Zivley was a
2424 member and supporter of the National Rifle Association; he
2525 closely followed many sports teams, notably The University of
2626 Texas Longhorns, New York Yankees, and Round Rock Express; and
2727 WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he
2828 gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and good humor
2929 will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
3030 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
3131 grandfather, and he will continue to live in the hearts and minds
3232 of those he left behind; now, therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
3434 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3535 family of Lane Alton Zivley: his beloved wife, June; his son and
3636 daughter-in-law, Benette Lamar Zivley and Linda; his daughters
3737 and son-in-law, Rebecca Grace Schrowang and Jeremy, Debra Denise
3838 Emery, and Mona Marie Fitch; and his grandchildren and
3939 great-grandchildren; and, be it further
4040 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4141 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
4242 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4343 memory of Lane Alton Zivley.
