5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
---|
6 | 6 | | citizens of Pflugerville in mourning the loss of Lane Alton |
---|
7 | 7 | | Zivley, who died January 18, 2009, at the age of 69; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Lane Zivley was born January 15, 1940, in Temple; |
---|
9 | 9 | | a 1958 graduate of Temple High School, he went on to attend The |
---|
10 | 10 | | University of Texas and Sam Houston State University; he met |
---|
11 | 11 | | Gloria June Boswell in 1966, and the couple married shortly |
---|
12 | 12 | | thereafter, sharing a life of love and devotion; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Zivley was a man of many interests, passions, |
---|
14 | 14 | | and vocations; he was a salesman, sports official, and manager of |
---|
15 | 15 | | a rock and roll band, but his role as a public servant serves as |
---|
16 | 16 | | his enduring legacy; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, He gave 15 years of loyal service to the state, |
---|
18 | 18 | | and he also served as executive director of the Texas Public |
---|
19 | 19 | | Employees Association; for 25 years he effectively represented |
---|
20 | 20 | | the association before the Texas Legislature, helping to craft |
---|
21 | 21 | | and pass legislation to benefit the public employees of Texas; |
---|
22 | 22 | | and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, An avid hunter and sports fan, Mr. Zivley was a |
---|
24 | 24 | | member and supporter of the National Rifle Association; he |
---|
25 | 25 | | closely followed many sports teams, notably The University of |
---|
26 | 26 | | Texas Longhorns, New York Yankees, and Round Rock Express; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he |
---|
28 | 28 | | gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and good humor |
---|
29 | 29 | | will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and |
---|
31 | 31 | | grandfather, and he will continue to live in the hearts and minds |
---|
32 | 32 | | of those he left behind; now, therefore, be it |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
---|
34 | 34 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
35 | 35 | | family of Lane Alton Zivley: his beloved wife, June; his son and |
---|
36 | 36 | | daughter-in-law, Benette Lamar Zivley and Linda; his daughters |
---|
37 | 37 | | and son-in-law, Rebecca Grace Schrowang and Jeremy, Debra Denise |
---|
38 | 38 | | Emery, and Mona Marie Fitch; and his grandchildren and |
---|
39 | 39 | | great-grandchildren; and, be it further |

40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

41 | 41 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |

42 | 42 | | Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
