                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 199
 In Memory
 of
 Lane Alton Zivley
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Pflugerville in mourning the loss of Lane Alton
 Zivley, who died January 18, 2009, at the age of 69; and
 WHEREAS, Lane Zivley was born January 15, 1940, in Temple;
 a 1958 graduate of Temple High School, he went on to attend The
 University of Texas and Sam Houston State University; he met
 Gloria June Boswell in 1966, and the couple married shortly
 thereafter, sharing a life of love and devotion; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Zivley was a man of many interests, passions,
 and vocations; he was a salesman, sports official, and manager of
 a rock and roll band, but his role as a public servant serves as
 his enduring legacy; and
 WHEREAS, He gave 15 years of loyal service to the state,
 and he also served as executive director of the Texas Public
 Employees Association; for 25 years he effectively represented
 the association before the Texas Legislature, helping to craft
 and pass legislation to benefit the public employees of Texas;
 and
 WHEREAS, An avid hunter and sports fan, Mr. Zivley was a
 member and supporter of the National Rifle Association; he
 closely followed many sports teams, notably The University of
 Texas Longhorns, New York Yankees, and Round Rock Express; and
 WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he
 gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and good humor
 will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
 grandfather, and he will continue to live in the hearts and minds
 of those he left behind; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Lane Alton Zivley: his beloved wife, June; his son and
 daughter-in-law, Benette Lamar Zivley and Linda; his daughters
 and son-in-law, Rebecca Grace Schrowang and Jeremy, Debra Denise
 Emery, and Mona Marie Fitch; and his grandchildren and
 great-grandchildren; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Lane Alton Zivley.
