| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the residents of Mansfield, the Mansfield Area Chamber |

| 4 | 4 | | of Commerce, and the City of Mansfield on the occasion of |

| 5 | 5 | | Mansfield Day at the State Capitol, which is being celebrated |

| 6 | 6 | | February 17, 2009; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Located in the southeast corner of Tarrant County |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Mansfield is one of the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | fastest-growing cities in the nation; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Home to major employers such as Mouser |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Electronics, a Wal-Mart Supercenter, Methodist Mansfield Medical |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Center, LyondellBasell, and Simus Foods, the City of Mansfield |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | enjoys a lower cost of living than most major metropolitan areas, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and it is one of the safest communities in the region; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The City of Mansfield has benefited from the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | expertise of outstanding civic leadership, whose prudent fiscal |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | management has led to financial stability and an outstanding bond |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | rating; the Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce, which represents |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | more than 700 local businesses, has played an important role in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the financial health of the region; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The City of Mansfield is blessed with an |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | outstanding educational system, with the Mansfield Independent |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | School District being one of the fastest-growing districts in the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | nation; four district campuses have been recognized as exemplary |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | by the Texas Education Agency, and Mansfield High School was |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | selected as a National Model High School by the International |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Center for Leadership in Education; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, The citizens of Mansfield are justifiably proud |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | of their hometown, which has contributed greatly to the economic |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and cultural fabric of our state; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Mansfield and the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce on their many contributions to |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | our state and extend to them a sincere welcome to Austin for |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Mansfield Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further |

| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
