SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 212
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the residents of Mansfield, the Mansfield Area Chamber
of Commerce, and the City of Mansfield on the occasion of
Mansfield Day at the State Capitol, which is being celebrated
February 17, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Located in the southeast corner of Tarrant County
in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Mansfield is one of the
fastest-growing cities in the nation; and
WHEREAS, Home to major employers such as Mouser
Electronics, a Wal-Mart Supercenter, Methodist Mansfield Medical
Center, LyondellBasell, and Simus Foods, the City of Mansfield
enjoys a lower cost of living than most major metropolitan areas,
and it is one of the safest communities in the region; and
WHEREAS, The City of Mansfield has benefited from the
expertise of outstanding civic leadership, whose prudent fiscal
management has led to financial stability and an outstanding bond
rating; the Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce, which represents
more than 700 local businesses, has played an important role in
the financial health of the region; and
WHEREAS, The City of Mansfield is blessed with an
outstanding educational system, with the Mansfield Independent
School District being one of the fastest-growing districts in the
nation; four district campuses have been recognized as exemplary
by the Texas Education Agency, and Mansfield High School was
selected as a National Model High School by the International
Center for Leadership in Education; and
WHEREAS, The citizens of Mansfield are justifiably proud
of their hometown, which has contributed greatly to the economic
and cultural fabric of our state; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Mansfield and the
Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce on their many contributions to
our state and extend to them a sincere welcome to Austin for
Mansfield Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this special day.
