SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 218 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Tammi Mackeben, who has been named the American School Counselor Association's 2008 School Counselor of the Year; and WHEREAS, A counselor at Ernesto Serna School in the Socorro Independent School District, Mrs. Mackeben was chosen for this prestigious award based on her dedication to her work and the success of the Comprehensive Developmental Guidance and Counseling program instituted at the school; and WHEREAS, This outstanding program has received multiple CREST Awards from the Texas School Counselor Association and the RAMP Award from the American School Counselor Association; it is designed to help every student at the school prepare for a successful life after school; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Mackeben has further served her profession as middle school vice president of the Texas School Counselor Association, and she is part of a nationwide team working with the College Board to study and improve principal-counselor relationships; and WHEREAS, Devoted to helping students thrive during some of the most critical years of their lives, Mrs. Mackeben is truly deserving of recognition for her commitment and for her many achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Tammi Mackeben on her tireless advocacy for children and extend congratulations to her on being named the 2008 School Counselor of the Year by the American School Counselor Association; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
