| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Michael T. Puckett, who is retiring as executive |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | director of Charro Days, Incorporated; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Puckett began his involvement with Charro |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Days in 1963 when he volunteered to drive a float in the Charro |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Days parade; he served as chairman of the parades from 1972 to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 1994, and he began his tenure as executive director in 1995; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Mr. Puckett has been |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | dedicated to serving the public; he was elected four times as |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Cameron County treasurer and has served as director of the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Brownsville Chamber of Commerce and the Brownsville Convention |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and Visitors Bureau; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, Mr. Puckett has been |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | noted for his superior organizing skills; his ability to obtain |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | volunteers and get them involved has served as an example to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | event organizers across the country; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Charro Days has more than tripled its number of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | entries, participants, and spectators since Mr. Puckett began |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | his involvement; he has left an indelible mark on this exemplary |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | event that showcases the friendship between Brownsville and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Matamoros and that generates growth and revenue for the area; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Mr. Puckett is |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | respected and admired by his colleagues, and his presence as |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | executive director of Charro Days will be greatly missed; now, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Michael T. Puckett on his many |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | contributions to the continuing success of Charro Days and extend |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it |
