SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 258 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Joshua Chance Parker on the auspicious occasion of his graduation from college; and WHEREAS, Joshua is a former member of the staff in the office of the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Texas Senate; he completed requirements for a bachelor of science degree at Abilene Christian University and graduated on December 12, 2008; and WHEREAS, He has a deep belief in his country and has chosen to serve and defend it as a member of the United States Army; his objective is to become an Army Ranger, and he begins basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, on February 24, 2009; and WHEREAS, Joshua has a clear vision of his future; he has demonstrated exceptional diligence and perseverance in pursuing the goals he set for himself; his educational accomplishments and his decision to serve his country bear witness to the strength of his character; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby join the family and friends of Joshua Chance Parker in congratulating him on his graduation from Abilene Christian University and extend to him best wishes for success in the military and in all his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
